I figured ND will be able to sit at the high rollers table

if it all goes down that way.

A lot of the rest of us might be over here at the nickel slots.

When they talk about things like stipends or money for a laptop, this won't even address the real problem that Justice Cavanagh points out in his concurring opinion. And that's that true market value is not close to how certain football and men's basketball players are being compensated. That's why you had instances like Reggie Bush and Scam Newton. They weren't just looking for pizza money.

Also, there is a growing incongruence between the athlete's organic professional sports career path from a young age and the immovable 4-year high school and 4-year college model. Players are investing in and developing professional skills at a far earlier age. These same athletes (like the society at large) are also valuing education less--and sometimes for good reason--and want to be paid in cash, not educational credit.

Maybe we will move toward two separate leagues (the SEC model of money talks and the ND model where academic integrity matters). I wonder which viewers will prefer?
